Daina Scarola, Ocean Art Studio: Ocean Playground

Sunday was Amazing! My day was packed with last minute details preparing for the Ocean Playground solo art show at Lululemon Athletica Halifax. There was hanging hardware to add to the paintings, price tags to print, food to prepare, and a guest list to finalize.

Early that day I got a surprise phone call from Global News asking if they could do a TV feature on me! We had a great chat, and tried to work out the logistics for filming and interviews, but in the end the timing didn't work (BOO!) with their deadlines. On the upside, I was energized for the rest of the day!

The store closed at 5pm, the extra staff took care of end of day duties and cleaning, and then we had 1 hour to take clothes down, move racks, hang the artwork, set out the food, make a bar, move in couches and chairs, get plugged in for live music... in the end totally transforming a yoga store into a hip gallery!

So to say the night was Amazing is a bit of an understatement! People were lined up and ready to come in before the doors opened at 7pm. I knew maybe 20 of the 100 or so guests that joined us! It was so busy I didn't get a chance to talk with everyone, but hopefully we'll have more opportunities to connect at my Seaport Market booth. I did my first artist talk (with a mic...yikes!) and shared the inspiration behind my new body of work, Ocean Playground. To cap off a perfect day, we ended the night out on the town dancing at the Bitter End...
